10 Things to Love about Livingston County

10.  Livingston County is a wonderful blend of rural and city culture.  With trendy restaurants and festivals, mixed with a strong agricultural heritage, Livingston County has something for everyone.

9. Hungry? Check out the Black Rock Restaurant in Hartland.  They serve tender steak that you slice and cook yourself on a hot stone- it is one of our favorites.

8. The Fowlerville Family Fair has been a staple in the community for years.  The fair has managed to adapt to meet the changing needs of the community, while honoring the heritage of rural life.

7. Love Inc.  This organization optimizes the idea of being the hands and feet of Jesus.  Their ability to pull so many churches together for a common cause is amazing.  They do great work!

6. Brighton Millpond is a beautiful location that anchors the bustling downtown area.  We love the Imagination Station!

5.  No better way to kick off the holiday season than with a Christmas Light parade. Livingston County is lucky enough to have two!  It has been fun to be part of the parades for the past few years.  If you haven't been, you need to make the trip!

4. Whether in Brighton or Howell, the free summer concerts are fantastic- especially when paired with an ice cream cone!

3. I can't count the number of times my kids and I have packed up the car and headed downtown to meet up with friends and spend the day swimming at the Howell City Beach.  What great memories!

2.   Howell Opera House.  If you haven't taken a tour of this facility, try to. Walking into the upstairs feels like you have stepped back in time.  The downstairs is a versatile space that has become a hub of activity in Howell.  I have been to a haunted house, silent auction, and rock concert, all using that space.

1. My favorite thing about Livingston County is the people.  What draws people here is the small town environment to raise their children and a sense of community.  While each township, city, and village have their own personality, the undercurrent throughout the county is one of family and optimism.  We work hard, care about the future of our children, and are willing to help our neighbors instead of waiting for someone else to.  It really is an amazing place to live and work.
